Egyptian Entrepreneur in Publishing and Media
May is one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the publishing and media fields in Egypt. She is the founder and managing editor of What Women Want…Magazine and the Managing Director of Media & More, a boutique advertising and digital media agency.
Following a career in marketing, May decided to start her own business in publishing and launched What Women Want…Magazine in 2006, followed by Media & More, a digital marketing agency, and finally The Travel Mag in 2010, the only travel magazine published in Egypt.
What Women Want became a pioneer in Egyptian publishing pushing the boundaries of conversation and tackling taboo subjects that are relevant to the lives of women in Egypt.
Media & More is now a full-service digital media agency and creative boutique serving various reputable clients from different business sectors in terms of social media handling, online marketing, design and development, as well as content creation and viral video production since 2009.
May is mother to two young girls and aside from her work in publishing she engages in different community and social projects targeting underprivileged segments of society across Egypt.
One of her more noted projects was the rebuilding of the Minia (Upper Egypt) Orphanage. In August 2012, the Orphanage was burned and looted by religious militants in a sectarian attack. May started a Facebook initiative and within six weeks had collected enough money to renovate the entire floor the 16 boys lived in and replace everything that was burned or looted.
