Fashion and beauty editor, Laha Magazine
Laila Hamdaoui is fashion and beauty editor for Laha magazine, a leading Arab Women’s weekly. She has been a fixture in the Arab fashion publishing world for nearly 20 years where she perfected the art of creating beautiful fashion pages for a conservative and fast-changing Middle-Eastern market.
Laila started her fashion career in 1993 as a fashion assistant at Sayidaty magazine, the best selling magazine in the Arab world at the time. She later became its fashion editor and produced numerous fashion spreads and celebrity and designer interviews. She went on to manage and style the fashion pages of Hia magazine, a Saudi-owned glossy monthly woman’s magazine where she successfully walked the tightrope that brought her Arab roots seamlessly in touch with her western influences. Her unique style had a great impact on a keen Middle Eastern readership.
Moving into beauty in 1997, she brought her creative flair to the pages of other Middle Eastern publications like Al-Jamila magazine, where her use of strong visuals in story-telling became popular among people in the industry.
In 2000, she was appointed fashion and beauty editor at Laha magazine. Since then she has managed both the London and Paris offices, overseeing the magazine’s fashion and beauty content, reporting on the shows and styling a number of exclusive fashion shoots.
Laila is also a trend consultant, stylist and art director. She lives in London with her husband and 3 young children.
